Carpool Karaoke: The series is the American web television series aired on Apple Music on August 9, 2017. Based on popular recurring segments, Carpool Karaoke, from The Late Late Show with James Corden , this series blends celebrities with each other as they go around and sing together for popular music.
On February 15, 2018, it was announced that the series had been updated for the second season.

One episode of the second season is set to feature James Marsden and Evan Rachel Wood, both starring in the HBO series Westworld . This episode was filmed in Austin, Texas during the annual South by the Southwest Film Festival.
Production
Development
On July 26, 2016, Apple Music and CBS Television Studios announced that they have reached an agreement for an exclusive first window license agreement in which Apple Music will become the global home of the recurring popular television segment adaptation series, Carpool Karaoke from The Late Late Show with James Corden . It was further reported that the production company CBS Television Studios and Fulwell 73 will produce the series. James Corden and Ben Winston are executive creators and producers for this series. Before the deal was reached, CBS Studios International and Fulwell 73 had shopped the series for an international house. It was initially also announced that this series will have hosts that will appear in every episode.
On January 9, 2017, it was reported that the series would not feature one host and would otherwise have different hosts in each episode.
On February 15, 2018, it was announced that the series had been updated for the second season.
Marketing
On February 13, 2017, Apple released the first teaser trailer for the series and a few days later the first full length trailer was released.
After initially set for premiere in April 2017, it was announced on April 25, 2017 that the series will be postponed until sometime later this year. On May 30, 2017, it was announced that the official airing date of the event will be August 8, 2017.
Reception
The first season received a negative reception from critics at the premiere. Sonya Saralya of Variety commented "For segments that emphasize spontaneity and intimacy, Carpool Karaoke at Apple Music is distancing - highlighting how different guests are from viewers, not vice versa." Rebecca Nicholson of The Guardian is also negative in his review that says, "Apple has outperformed the formula, but, in so doing, has managed to misunderstand completely what made it interesting.Viewed from the first episode and what was mocked later on series, it's less about getting a revealing interview from someone who may seem far away, and more about bowing to celebrity powers. "
