"I Believe You are a love ballad composed by Don and Dick Addrisi which is a 1977 single for Dorothy Moore, taken from her self-titled album Dorothy Moore." I Believe You "reached # 5 R & B and cross to Pop Top 30 at number 27. The track also reaches number 20 in the UK.

The song was recorded by Carpenters and released as a single in June 1978. While it reached number 9 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, it peaked at the disappointing # 68 on Billboard Hot 100 , due to the significant fact that the accompanying album was postponed indefinitely (it would be another three years until the next album was released), reportedly due to Karen's health problems, though Richard was at that moment also dealing with herself addicted to quaaludes.

In June 1981, the album Made in America - which included "I Believe You" - was finally released. The potential success of "I Believe You" may have been issued along with the LP underlined when the album finally became a single, "Touch Me When We Dancing", became the first Carpenters blow to reach the Hot 100's Top 20 and number 1 on Billboard. i> Adult Contemporary chart since "There a Kind of Hush" did the same in early 1976.

"I Believe You" was also featured on Barbara Mandrell's 1978 album Moods .
