Plot
In 1905, Daniel Hackett (Nick Stahl), a young farmer from the western town of Paradise Valley, was unhappy with his life as a farmer and the dream of living in New York City. His father, Jonas (Stephen Lang), likes to tell Daniel stories about Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan, and John Henry who Daniel has heard many times to doubt their whereabouts. Meanwhile, Paradise Valley is being coveted by a voracious developer, J.P. Stiles (Scott Glenn). Stiles tries to convince local farmers to sell their land to him, especially Jonas because his field is located in the center where he wants to flourish. However, when Jonas refused to hand over his deeds, Stiles chased him and shot him, but not before Jonas handed the deed to Daniel for safekeeping.
With Jonas being critical and unable to farm, his land is threatened. Upset, Daniel runs out to hide in his father's boat and doze off. When Daniel woke up, he found that the boat was released and drifted downstream into the Texas desert. After a brief encounter with several thieves, Daniel was rescued by the legendary Pecos Bill cowboy (Patrick Swayze). The duo then collaborated with the Paul Bunyan (Oliver Platt) tree-litter, and the former strong African American slave, John Henry (Roger Aaron Brown). Each of these heroes is associated with Daniel and is engaged in an increasingly fierce and fierce battle against Stiles, whose plans to buy land threaten the forces of the people's heroes and the welfare of ordinary people.
When Stiles took the deed, Daniel woke up realizing it was just a dream. He ventured toward the Stiles train that was going to the mainland. Daniel confronts him, and they try to crash him, until John arrives and holds the train. Stiles ordered his men to kill them, but Pecos arrived and fired from their trigger fingers, and the villagers joined in to help, while Paul, who went inside while no one noticed, cut off the mine poles. Daniel then finishes the last pole to kill Stiles and his men, and the crowd cheers for him.
Daniel then returned to the ranch and admitted that the story was true and their land was important. Paul with his baby bull, and John with his Cold Molasses mule, bid farewell to Daniel and disappear afterward. Pecos left his horse, Widow-Maker for Daniel and twisted his lanes with a corner for his departure.
