The American Idol Season 10 Top 13 Finalists Party - Picture 2
src: m.aceshowbiz.com

The tenth season American Idol aired on January 19, 2011 and ended on May 25, 2011, on the Fox television network. The event underwent a number of changes from the ninth season, including the return of Nigel Lythgoe as executive producer. Randy Jackson returned as judge for the tenth season while Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler joined the judging panel following the departure of Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres.

Interscope Records, which is part of Universal Music Group, replaces Sony Music Entertainment as the official idol record label Idol '. Interscope chairman, Jimmy Iovine, songwriter and producer, was appointed as an internal mentor to work with contestants every week. He is supported by related producers Rodney Jerkins, Alex da Kid, Tricky Stewart, Don Was, will.i.am, and Timbaland, all of whom help contestants adjust their song selection to their chosen genre, while also making arrangements for contestants and offering original material to be done. Ray Chew replaces Rickey Minor as the musical director of the live show and band leader Idol '.

Programming changes that affect audiences include revisions in broadcast days from Tuesday and Wednesday through Wednesday and Thursday. The event also opens options for viewers to vote online via Facebook, which allows 50 votes per account. Specific changes in the competition itself include extending additional rounds (such as the Las Vegas show) and the final solo round, while also returning the jury's wild card option. The event also reduced the feasibility age to 15 years. More contestants made it to Hollywood in season 10 than in previous seasons.

On May 25, 2011, after 122.4 million votes were awarded for the final (and nearly 750 million votes for the seasonal total), Scotty McCreery was named the tenth season winner of American Idol, making him the youngest male winner in aged 17 years and seven months, and the second youngest winner ever to be behind season 6 champion Jordin Sparks. Season 10 is the first season in which 11 contestants go on tour, not 10. Eight contestants from this season are signed to record labels. The signed artists are Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart, James Durbin, Casey Abrams, Stefano Langone, Pia Toscano, and Naima Adedapo.

Changes

Simon Cowell, who has been a judge since the first episode of the first season, announced on January 11, 2010 that he will not return as a judge for the season to focus on launching the American version of his English singing competition. X Factor . Ellen DeGeneres officially announced her departure on July 29, 2010, after judging only for one season, because she felt the show was not "fitting" for her. Kara DioGuardi then announced on September 3, 2010, that he also will not be back this season. On September 22, 2010, it was announced that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler would join the judging panel.

There are a number of other major changes in season ten, from the jury to the event format itself including the opening of the opening, which uses "Hall of Idols". Nigel Lythgoe returned as an executive producer, and Ray Chew has been hired as the new music director of the show, replacing Rickey Minor, who left the show alongside vocal trainer Dorian Holley to become music director of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Peisha McPhee, mother of runner-up runner-up Katharine McPhee, joined as one of the vocal trainers. In this season, online voting is also offered for the first time for fans with Facebook accounts; up to 50 votes can be printed.

The Season 10 also saw his comeback to the singer's process singing two songs each on the night of the show beginning at the start of the season, and three songs each starting on 3 Top nights.

New round

Additional rounds are added in the Hollywood phase of the competition which will narrow the contestant to sixty finalist candidates. Those who made the last sixty were then taken to Las Vegas in extra round where they were asked to sing songs from The Beatles, and then a further solo round in Los Angeles. Originally it was planned that 20 contestants would be left at the end of the Hollywood round, however, 24 contestants were chosen instead for the semi-finals, and they would appear in two groups of twelve in the semi-finals of sudden death rounds in which ten finalists - five girls and five boys male - will be selected by the viewer. The judges were given three wild cards, making a total of thirteen finalists.

Nigel Lythgoe previously proposed significant format changes that would replace the next semifinals, with contestants having "to make the best music videos, to promote themselves, and to work with bands and dancers for show-style performances." However, the plan was suspended. Despite previous reports that producers of Idol have cut the theme of weekly music, the theme remains.

Partnership with Universal Music

At the end of the ninth season, Sony Music Entertainment's affiliates to Idol also ended. The partnership was replaced by a new deal with Universal Music Group, which means that the winner will now be signed to Interscope Records. Interscope sister label, A & amp; M Records and Geffen Records, will also be involved in promoting and distributing the albums of the event finalists. Group leader of Interscope-Geffen-A & amp; M, Jimmy Iovine, works directly with contestants this season as an internal mentor. In addition, the associated Universal Music producer and songwriter teams, such as Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Timbaland and Alex da Kid, also work with contestants to help them take original settings and materials. Some suggest changes, such as allowing the finalists to release music while the season is still going on rather than waiting to record an album, not implemented, even though the music was released somewhat earlier than the previous season.

This year, because of the many contestants, two more rounds were added. The remaining 61 contestants went to Las Vegas where they performed songs from The Beatles as a duo and a trio at the Love theater in The Mirage for the newly added 'Las Vegas' round. Controversy

Gender bias bias and deletion Pia Toscano

The first five contestants to be eliminated from the final are all female contestants, and the early removal of these women led to a biased criticism of women. Idol producer Ken Warwick said, "It's no secret that most reality shows are women driven, either by mothers or by young girls. That means we will get more women voters and it always bends toward the children, obviously, we are keenly aware that voting may be leaning towards boys. "Voting also provoked many criticisms after the last of these five women, Pia Toscano, considered the foremost, was surprisingly knocked out in ninth place. In response to criticism, manufacturers are considering changing the voting format for the next season. However, after Toscano's elimination, the next five eliminated contestants were all men, leading to the first Top 3 with two women since the sixth season.

Assess critic

Online criticism from major news sources such as Brian Mansfield from USA Today, MSNBC's Craig Berman, Dalton Ross from Entertainment Weekly, Andrea Reiher from Zap2it and Tom Gliatto from People criticize judges for being too kind, not honest enough, barely offering constructive criticism of the contestants, and for not providing guidance and direction to the audience/voters in terms of why they should or should not vote for someone. Executive producer Ken Warwick responded to these critics and said, "The truth is these kids are very good and I will not influence the judges to say anything they do not really believe... They try to keep things that straight and narrow, what they feel is a genuine feeling, that's all I can ask them to do. "Nigel Lythgoe, another executive producer, also responded to this criticism on his Twitter and replied," THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE JUDGE'S OPINION ABOUT THINGS -Your UR! UR IS NO SHEEP! " But in October 2011, judge Jennifer Lopez revealed that the three juries will be more tight on the contestants in season 11.

Lee DeWyze's final engagement

Many fans of the ninth-season winner, Lee DeWyze, were upset that he did not take part in the ten season finals as rumored. Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe responded on his Twitter that he asked DeWyze to take part in the final, but he declined, "I'm very disappointed, Lee DeWyze will not give Scotty a winning trophy," he wrote. "Especially when he's on this Season show I think he's shy." However, DeWyze said that he was not actually asked to take part in the final, "Just for the record... I was not asked to get involved in Finale It was not until about 2 minutes before they announced that Nigel had approached me and asked if he could" borrowing "me for a moment I do not feel the last seconds jump on the stage is right This is Scotty's moment I appreciate the American Idol, and the opportunity he gave me and the people who made the show is possible I am not angry , or bitter, etc. It was an incredible Finale, and I would love to be part of it.I just was not asked. "DeWyze was seen in the audience towards the end of the show.
