" Because We Believe ", (" Ama Credi E Vai " in Italian), is a song by Italian tennis singer Andrea Bocelli. It was co-written by Bocelli, Grammy Award-winning David Foster and his daughter Amy Foster, for the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, where it was performed by Bocelli. The song first appeared as a solo version of Bocelli's 2006 album Amore , and later on her biggest hit album of 2007, The Best of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere.

Solo Version
In the United States, Canada, and the rest of the world outside Europe, Bocelli's original solo version is by far the best known. The Argentine youngster, Javier Fontana, also recorded the song with approval. Bocelli usually performs Because We Believe, the English/Italian version of the song, during concerts and events, although he sometimes performs "Ama Credi E Vai", a song with only Italian lyrics, which he wrote himself.
Both "Ama Credi E Vai", and "Because We Believe", were released as part of the album Amore , January 31, 2006, which debuted at No. 1. 3 on both Billboard 200, and Canadian album charts.
On February 26, 2006, Bocelli played a multilingual version of the song during the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics, in Turin, before the fire extinguished. While Bocelli sings, 500 Italian brides enter the arena wearing their wedding dress, and carry lilies lit; they form the "Dove of Peace" before the fire takes its last breath.
In April 2006, Bocelli was guest coach, along with David Foster, in Season 5 of American Idol, helping the finalists sing weekly themed songs, "Greatest Love Songs." He did "Because We Believe" on the results of the week show.
The song is also included in 2007, Bocelli's biggest hits album, The Best of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere .
On March 18, 2006, "Because We Believe" debuted at No. 1. 39, on the Adult US Adult chart, spent just one week on the chart.
Marco Borsato Duet
In the Netherlands and Flanders, Belgium, the song was released as a duet with Dutch singer Nederpop Marco Borsato. Borsato recorded his part in Dutch, English and Italian in Bocelli's studio in Italy, and Bocelli's original vocals were used.
The single spent a total of 14 weeks on the Dutch Top 40 chart, including six weeks at No. 1, became the first English language Borsato No. 1 in Holland as well as the first Bocelli no 1 in the country.
In Flanders, the single occupies fourth position, Bocelli's best position in Flanders since "Con te partirÃÆ'ò" topped the charts in 1996, for 10 consecutive weeks. The song ended up spending a total of 21 weeks on the Ultratop 50 chart, seven weeks longer than in the Netherlands.
Duet Gianna Nannini
In Italy, the Italian version of the song was released as a duet with Italian rock singer Gianna Nannini.
The single spent a total of 14 weeks at Musica e dischi , the Italian single 50 top chart, voted in No. 1. 9, and a total of 4 weeks in the top 20 on the FIMI single chart, opting at No. 1. 11.

On February 5, 2012, American pop singer Chris Mann auditioned with the song version for the premiere of the second season of NBC's talent show The Voice. Although Cee Lo Green was the first to turn the chair, Chris chose Christina Aguilera as his coach. When Green asks about the song choice, Chris says he always likes the song. He went on to say that he had a tough time in business, finally trying to downplay his voice to "fit." For the show, Chris says she wants to sing like herself.
Harrison Craig, born 1994, the Australian singer, Winner of the Voice, 2013, also sang this version of the song.
