Orianthi Panagaris (born January 22, 1985), known mononally as Orianthi , is an Australian musician, singer and songwriter known primarily for practicing with Michael Jackson because of his bad luck This Is It concert series, and to perform in band touring Alice Cooper. The debut single "According to You" peaked at No. 3 in Japan, No. 8 in Australia and No. 17 in the US; Her second album, Believe , received a worldwide release at the end of 2009. In 2009, Orianthi was named one of 12 Largest Electrical Female Guitarists by Elle magazine. She also won the award for "Breakthrough Guitarist of the Year" 2010 by Guitar International magazine.

Life and career

Early life

Orianthi Panagaris was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and of Greek descent. He started playing the piano at the age of three, and at the encouragement of his father, moved to an acoustic guitar at the age of six. When he was eleven, he took an electric guitar and left his school, Mercedes College, enrolled at Cabra Dominican College. He also studied at Stadio Collegiate Girls' School for a short time. At the age of 15, he shifted his focus to writing songs and starting his professional career. He has played in the band since the age of 14 and performed at his first stage show for Steve Vai at the age of 15. Orianthi met and bogged down with Carlos Santana when he was 18 years old. He invited Orianthi to get up and play with him on the soundcheck and then ask if he would join him on stage that night to watch his Adelaide concert, Memorial Drive on March 30, 2003.

Orianthi independently released her debut studio album, Violet Journey in 2005, compiling all the material, contributing guitar, vocals and drums on most of the cuts. He produces and mixes the final product in his home studio. Carlos Santana brought Orianthi's attention to Paul Reed Smith which led to his support. Orianthi moved to Los Angeles, signed with Geffen Records in late 2006 and reached a management deal with 19 Entertainment.

Orianthi has created an ad for Panasonic HD, featured in the song "Now or Never" for Bratz: The Movie, played at Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival, appearing on The New York Times > business section promotes eco-friendly acoustic guitars, and opened to Steve Vai in the US.

Breakthrough

Orianthi appeared at the 51st Grammy Awards in February 2009 as lead guitarist Carrie Underwood, with Underwood inviting Orianthi to become a member of his band. After that performance in addition to recommendations from industry management professionals Michael Jackson reached out to Orianthi to audition for This Is It concerts. Orianthi is a Michael Jackson guitarist and attended in all the drills for this Is It concert before his death. In the case of being chosen by Jackson, he states:

I do not know exactly why he chose me, but he watched my YouTube video and liked it. He has a choice of guitar player, but I came and played a solo 'Beat It' for him. After that he was very happy he got up and grabbed my arm and started walking up and down to the stage area with me. He said, 'Can you play once for me?' and hired me that night. I hope he is still there. He made me more confident, and I learned a lot. Go into it, I think it's all about playing guitar solos. But most of them play funky chords and rhythms.

She played and sang on Jackson's memorial, globally broadcast live on July 7, 2009. She appeared in the film Michael Jackson's This Is It, which tells of rehearsals for the tour and shows her and Michael onstage. He presented the award at the 2009 American Music Awards, which Jackson won posthumously. Orianthi also appeared on "We Are the World 25 for Haiti" - with original co-written and partly performed by Jackson. He plays guitar on Michael Jackson's "Monster" song featuring 50 Cent which was released on Michael on December 14, 2010.

Career/solo collaboration

Orianthi began working on her major label debut Believe in 2007 which was released in October 2009. The album produced a worldwide hit "You think", which was Single of the Week on iTunes on October 27, 2009, reaching number 2 on US radio broadcasts and mapped to number eight in Australia, three in Japan, and achieved platinum status in the US and Australia. The instrumental rock instrumental "Highly Strung" features Steve Vai as a popular YouTube video with millions of views and climbs, and his song "Suffocated" is a feature on Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock as a playable song. Orianthi followed up with a four-song EP including two singles "Shut Up and Kiss Me" and "Courage".

Orianthi appeared in several late-night shows primarily on American Idol results showing March 26, 2010. In 2010 he toured extensively with headlining events in the US, Japan, Australia and Malaysia. She also opens for other artists including: John Mayer, Mika, Kid Rock, Daughtry and more than 30 dates for Adam Lambert's Glam Nation Tour with former contestant Idol Allison Iraheta. Orianthi performs at various music festivals and charity functions especially in Stand Up to Cancer telethon.

Orianthi is very productive in collaborating and displayed by many artists. She appeared in the third single Iraheta "Do not Waste the Pretty" and on the song Fefe Dobson "Can not Breathe" which appeared on the album Fefe Dobson Joy released in November 2010. She has stated that people the people who work with him (ie Allison Iraheta and Lacey Mosley) are some of his best friends.

He recorded for the song "Sadda Haq" composed by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman for the 2011 Bollywood movie soundtrack Rockstar . The song became very popular and gained substantial media coverage in India for Orianthi, who was quoted for his time as the lead guitarist of Michael Jackson.

On October 12, 2011, 5 songs EP Fire , produced by Dave Stewart was released as iTunes download.

Her third studio album, Heaven in This Hell , was released on March 12, 2013.

Orianthi joins the Hollywood Vampire supergroup on the "Whole Lotta Love" track for self-titled band debut album 2015.

In October 2016, Orianthi appeared in The NRL Grand Final pre-entertainment game with Richie Sambora. Their performance was greeted with mixed reviews with Sambora having to get out and maintain their performance the next day online.

In September 2017, Orianthi and Richie Sambora released an EP with five songs called Rise under the name RSO followed by another EP Making History also released in 2017 and debut album they. Radio Free America by 2018.

Tourists guitarist

On August 29, 2011, Orianthi was announced as the new guitarist Alice Cooper. He replaces Damon Johnson, who is now a member of Thin Lizzy. She is the first female member of the band Alice Cooper. Orianthi made two world tours with Alice Cooper, but resigned in June 2014 to be replaced by Nita Strauss.

Orianthi has emerged as a guitarist for other stars including performances with Michael Bolton, Dave Stewart and James Durbin. She also appeared in the 7th Week 7th Weekid American Idol on April 3, 2013 to play guitar for each show. One month later Orianthi performed China Fine with Chris Brown at the Billboard Music Awards 2013, and on December 8 of the same year he paid tribute to Carlos Santana, performing at the Kennedy Center Honors Gala. He spent most of the 2013-2015 tour with Dave Stewart, started BeMyBand, and released a song. In 2014, he joined Richie Sambora for his solo tours in Australia and Europe. In 2016, the two toured under the name RSO in Australia, South America, and England. The couple released EP Rise on September 29, 2017.

Philanthropy

Orianthi met with Little Kids Rock students at the annual merchant trade show for music dealers (NAMM) in 2010 after they opened for him. The boys gave him an acoustic guitar they signed and he joined the LKR Honorary Board.
