Sasquatch! Music Festival is an annual music festival held at The Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington. In recent years, it happened on Memorial Day weekend, running for three to four days.

About the festival

Sasquatch! usually featuring a variety of music genres, with emphasis on indie rock bands and songwriters, but also includes alternative rock, hip hop, EDM, and comedy. In 2012 the festival features five stages: Sasquatch! Bigfoot Theater , Pisang Shack (tents featuring primarily comedy and electronic music-now known as El Chupacabra), Yeti Theater , and Uranus Stage (the smallest stage, which generally changes names each year, but does not start from 2017 onward).

Most of the participants were from the festival camps at the designated campsite nearby, because the place is relatively isolated and there is no large urban area nearby.

Sasquatch! was selected as one of the 'Top 10 Summer Music Festivals in the US' by ConcertBoom.

History

Sasquatch! The Music Festival was founded in 2002 by a concert promoter based in Pacific Northwest, Adam Zacks, then at the House of Blues. Prior to the start of the festival, Zacks ordered and arranged a performance at the Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon. After moving to Seattle to get closer to friends and family, Zacks began considering making music festivals in the Pacific Northwest. In an interview with Seattle Weekly in September 2007, Zacks described the birth of Sasquatch!:

Sasquatch is an idea born of a premonition that there is an untapped demand for a particular festival type that caters to the appetite of eclectic music fans. It started in 2002, shortly after a number of tour festivals (Lollapalooza, Lilith, Horde) have subsided and the start of a regional wave of festivals beginning with Coachella and now is the dominant force on the music landscape, with Bonnaroo, the Austin City Limit, etc.

In 2014, Adam Zacks decided to expand the festival to two weekend due to high ticket demand in 2013. On March 21, 2014, Independence Day Sasquatch Independence Day was canceled. Jeff Trisler, President of Live Nation, released the following statement on the announcement: "The Sasquatch community has spoken and they continue to support traditional Memorial Day Weekend events with great enthusiasm," Jeff Trisler, president of Live Nation Seattle, said in a statement. "Unfortunately, the second weekend is not embraced.We feel it's better to cancel the new show now and give everyone time to make an alternative plan for the weekend of the Fourth of July.First, the Sasquatch Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheater at the weekend fans want: Independence Day Weekend only.
