Mamas & amp; Papas was a vocal group from Los Angeles, California that was active from 1966 to 1969. Their discography consisted of a total of five albums and seventeen singles, six of which made Billboard the top ten, and sold nearly 40 million albums worldwide.
Mamas and Papas recording was released on Dunhill Records until 1967, when the company was sold and the label became ABC-Dunhill. Around 1973, ABC-Dunhill dumped all recording of multi-track sessions and mono masters because they were considered obsolete and too expensive to keep. The original recording of The Mamas and Papas, and labelmates like Three Dog Night, was therefore lost, and it was necessary to make a digital version of the stereo master album, often the second or third generation tapes. This is why the sound quality of the Mamas and Papas reprint does not match the best of the 1960s. In 2012, Sundazed Records puts a mono master from If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears in the UK and release it on 180-gram vinyl and limited edition 500 compact disc.
Single "California Dreamin" and "Monday, Monday" both have been certified as gold record by RIAA.
